Alibaba is a hot topic recently especially about its public listing in Hong Kong yesterday. I just found out something interesting: it is also “listed” on ICANN accredited registrars’ list. What a surprise! The accredited top level domains to Alibaba include only .net and .com. Are they going to sell domain to its suppliers?
Actually, I don’t think it’s a bad idea as part of integrated solutions to suppliers. Especially in China, there are millions of SMEs registered in Alibaba, most of whom don’t have much knowledge in domain registration.
By the way, I tried and failed to buy its IPO, but I got its shares on its first trading day. I have some kind of faith in this company; regardless of analysis, I try to keep the shares for a while.
