Singapre Airlines (SIA) would be the first airline in the world to start commercial flight of the super jumbo airbus A380. The first flight would be on Oct 25 2007 from Singapore to Sydney and the seats would be on charity auction starting on Monday for two weeks.
The proceeds of the auction will be split evenly between Singapore’s Community Chest, Sydney (the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead), and Médecins Sans Frontières (also known as Doctors Without Borders).
The starting bid price for Economy Class seats is US$3.80. For Business Class, bids will start at US$38 and for Singapore Airlines Suites, it will be US$380. Pre-qualification is required for bids in the Business Class and Suites or bids over US$1,000 in Economy Class. This ensures bids are not artificially inflated and that the bidders are genuine.
