In my own words, Yahoo Answers is a place you can show your extensive knowledge and expertise in a certain area by answering related questions. Of course, depending on the market you try to target, you may find similar sites more popular than Yahoo Answers. For example, Baidu Zhidao is more popular than Yahoo Answers.
Bonus Tip: Among Chinese Internet users in Asia, discussion boards (or BBS, forum) are very popular and many people chat there, ask questions there, and buy stuff there.
