Social Media has been around (arguably) for a very long time. Letters pages in print media provided a rudimentary system of debate and information exchange. Web 2.0 has been the stimulus though that has set Social Media ‘on fire’. It has removed practically all technical barriers to content publication. The content producer to consumer ratio is equalising and wikis, blogs, microblogging, podcasting and a plethora of others are genuinely giving voice to individuals and communities.
What also is really interesting is the relentless march of Social Media and uptake inside corporations. Enterprise 2.0 has many promises and makes for an exciting future…
