Watch Asia Job Trends to Identify Competition

June 12th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Internet Marketing ·

What positions are your competitors recruiting? Watching the overall job trends can help you better understand the business demand in the market.

I recently introduced 10 online trends tools in which I mentioned a tool from Indeed to track job trends; I got a message from a reader who wonders whether there is a tool specifically for Asia job trends. This post introduces a tool to track Asia job trends.

The job trend tool is called Job Index from recruit.net. It is based on an aggregation of job data from thousands of online sources across Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore. This includes jobs posted on corporate web sites, job boards, recruitment agencies, online classifieds and newspapers.

I’ll illustrate use of this tool below with “seo” job trends in Singapore and China; you can select other specific region as well for your own need.

Either web analytics or trends tool is useful to a certain degree; neither can be used to draw direct and immediate conclusions. By tracking the SEO job trends in Singapore and China, what can you see?

SEO jobs demand seems to increase slowly in Singapore and rapidly in China; is China a much better place for SEM agencies to expand into? If you are an agency providing SEO service, do you what it takes to expand your business? Can you retain your SEO staff facing the high demand in SEO professionals…

Some ideas how you can find some insights from this job trends tool:

  • Compare job trends in different regions (to assist your business expansion strategies, for example)
  • Watch the job trends in your present markets (to help with HR strategies)
  • Compare different and/or similar jobs trends in a certain region

Once you have some ideas, you can explore further and deeper. What do you think you can get out of this trend tool?

    Thanks Rocky!

    Very interesting tool you’ve recommend.

The rising trend for China is amazing. I have no idea about SEO industry in China.

Is it because of awareness or sheer population size? Or both.

The shape for “seo Hong Kong” looked similar to that of Singapore.

The trend looked even more amazing when compared against “search marketing”.
